Victor Hugo is famous French romantic writer from the 18th century and is best known for his novels Les Miserables and The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. The City of Paris preserves the 2 houses where Victor Hugo lived in the longest: the Hôtel de Rohan-Guéménée in Place des Vosges in Paris, where for 16 years he rented a 280 square-metre apartment on the second floor, and Hauteville House on the island of Guernsey, where he lived in exile for 15 years at 38 Rue Hauteville in St. Peter Port in Guernsey. His home was turned into a museum and is a great visual encyplodia of his life and era. The Hugo mansion and its decor was inspired by both Chinese and medieval decorative influences. Entrance is free for all visitors.
